Canada Red Cross is mobilizing to help the northern community of Attawapiskat, which has been in a state of emergency for at least three weeks due to an extreme housing and water shortage. Up til now, Attawapiskat has received little to no response from the provincial or federal governments, despite the deplorable conditions and plummeting temperatures.
Attawapiskat is also infamous for being without a school for the past twelve years. The community's children have petitioned the Canadian Government for a school that meets the needs of its 400 students.
